Health permitting

You file the permit. We draw the plans.

You collect what your county requires. We draw the plans. The build starts once you're approved.

Who decides

Your county decides.

The application and approval are between you and your county. We provide the schematics and the build.

Requirements vary by county. Your local health department sets them, not us:

  • Sink count and size
  • Countertop material
  • NSF certifications
  • Plumbing hookup specs

So step one is a call to your county, not an order. Until we have their answers, anything we draw is a guess, and an expensive one.

Sinks, tanks, pumps and NSF rinsers are on the plumbing page.

How it works

Six steps, in order.

Tell us about the project.

Fill out the inquiry form at the bottom of this page. You don't need every answer yet.

Gather your county's requirements.

Collect your county health department's requirements before your consult. Not optional: we can't design to spec without them. The checklist is below.

The permitting consult.

With those in hand, book a 30-minute consult to confirm what we can build. Every permitted project needs it before the build begins.

Schematics and plumbing diagrams.

We draw what your county reviews: dimensions, plumbing layout, sink placement, countertop specs.

The flat fee is separate from your build deposit and covers the drafting whether or not you order a build.

You submit to your county.

You submit the application with the schematics. We don't submit applications or follow up with health departments.

Nobody selling you a cart can shorten the county's timeline.

Approved? Let's build.

Tell us when you're approved and we start the build order: estimate, project agreement, deposit, production. If the county requires design changes, we review feasibility first.

Before your consult

Gather these first.

Get these from your local health department before you book.

  1. Your county's health permit application, downloaded or requested
  2. Required NSF certifications for your equipment
  3. Countertop material requirements for your county
  4. Sink size and compartment requirements
  5. Any specific plumbing hookup specs

Good to know

Not there yet? The inquiry form walks you through it. We just can't schedule the consult until you have the answers.

Scope of work

Where our job ends.

RidgeCraft is a woodworking and fabrication business. We are not permitting consultants, health code specialists, or regulatory advisors. We build your equipment to your specifications.

What we do

Our role

We help in these limited ways:

  • Provide build schematics and plumbing diagrams upon request ($300)
  • Accommodate construction requirements your health department documents
  • Modify designs to meet stated requirements, if you submit them in writing before you order

What we do not do

Your responsibilities

These are solely the customer's responsibility. RidgeCraft will not perform, research, or advise on any of them:

  • Contacting your local or state health department
  • Researching applicable health codes or equipment standards for your jurisdiction
  • Determining whether a specific build configuration will be approved
  • Submitting applications or documentation to any regulatory agency on your behalf
  • Following up with health departments regarding approval status
  • Making design changes after an order is placed due to permitting requirements — change order fees may apply

Cost and timeline

What it costs, and how long.

Two clocks: the county's, which we don't control, and the build clock, which starts after approval.

Schematic fee
$300 flat for your schematics and plumbing diagrams. Separate from your build deposit, and due whether or not you order a build.
Consult
30 minutes, once you have your county's requirements.
Permit approval
Up to your county. A few weeks to several months.
Build pricing
Standard Signature (from $1,750) or Custom Elite (from $5,000) pricing. Your estimate adds permit-specific specs like NSF equipment or custom plumbing.
Payment
45% deposit, 35% at production, 20% at completion.
Build lead time
Custom Elite: 12–16 weeks from deposit. Signature: quoted on your estimate.
Change orders
Permit-driven design changes after you order may carry a change order fee. Get the requirements in writing first and it won't come up.
